Retro Vibe Vest is a round neck vest, completely seamless, worked from the top down. The vest is started from the neck and worked in-the-round, German Short Rows shape the shoulders and at the same time increases are worked to shape the shoulders, with cable panels on each side of the front. Then front and back are separated and worked flat, leaving an opening for the armholes. Once the desired armhole depth is achieved, front and back are joined again and the body is worked in-the-round. Stitches are then picked up to work a rib finishing around the armholes.

The design was inspired by the classic braided vests of the 70s. It combines a classic and simple shape, adorned with a braid on each side of the front, which makes it a timeless piece to any wardrobe.

About The Pattern:

Sizes: (1, 2, 3) [4, 5, 6] {7, 8, 9}.

Finished circumference around the bust: (88, 98, 108) [118, 128, 138] {148, 158, 168} cm/(35.25, 39.25, 43.25) [47.25, 51.25, 55.25] {59.25, 63.25, 67.25}”.

Positive ease: approximately 7 cm/2.75” to 16 cm/6.5”.

To choose your size, add the desired ease to the actual measurement of your bust and then find the closest measurement in the schematic. For example: if your bust is 86 cm/34.5”, you should knit size 2 which has a final measurement of 98 cm/39.25” (with 12 cm/4.75” of positive ease).

Gauge: 16 stitches x 23 rounds (10 cm/4”) with main needles after blocking in stockinette stitch.

Before starting, it is important to make a swatch to verify that you achieve the desired gauge and that you like the texture of the fabric with the yarns and needles you are using. If you have more stitches than indicated in 10 cm/4”, you should try again going up a needle size. If you have fewer stitches than indicated in 10 cm/4”, you should go down a needle size. Differences in gauge will affect your garment’s finished measurements and final yardage

Suggested needle size: 5 mm/US 8 main circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge. 4 mm/US 6 circular needles,or two sizes smaller than the main needle. Cable lengths may vary as needed. To work small circumferences (neckline or cuffs) you can use double-pointed needles, short circular needles or long circular needles using the Magic Loop technique.

Yarn and Yardage:

Weight: Heavy DK.

Sample features: Merino Baby Alpaca 50/50 (50% merino wool, 50% baby alpaca) 200 m/100 g (219 yd/3.5 oz) colorway green.

Estimated yardage: (395, 450, 505) [565, 610, 670] {735, 795, 860} m/(430, 490, 550) [620, 665, 735] {805, 870, 940} yd of Merino Baby Alpaca 50/50 or any DK weight yarn, or (2, 3, 3) [3, 4, 4] {4, 4, 5} balls of Merino Baby Alpaca 50/50.
