I love knitting socks, and even more so when they have a nice texture! Ascanio Socks are knitted from the toe to the shaft, with an elegant fancy knit pattern, gusset and heel in single rows.

Techniques used: increases and decreases, Judy's Magic Cast On, Magic Loop technique for knitting small circles. You can choose to use the Elastic Binding Stitch or the elastic binding of your choice. All the techniques used are explained in the instructions and in videos linked from this pattern.

About This Pattern

Sizes: (1, 2, 3)
Foot width: (17.5, 20, 22.5) cm. You should measure the circumference of your foot at the widest part.

Socks are designed to be worn with negative ease. Choose a size with a foot circumference measurement approx. 2.5 cm smaller than your actual foot circumference.

Foot length: Adjustable. To know your foot length you must measure from the tip of your toe to the end of your heel.

Gauge: 32 sts x 48 rows (10 cm) on main needles in stocking st, knitted in the circular and blocked.

Suggested needle size: Main circular needle 2.25mm/US 1, or whatever you need to achieve the required tension, length 80cm, or longer. Alternatively you can use short needles (23cm) or double pointed needles.

The instructions are written with the Magic Loop method in mind.

Spinning and Yarn:

Yarn thickness: Fingering.

Yarn used in the sample:
Regia Premium Silk Solid 4ply (55% merino wool, 25% polyamide, 20% silk) 400 m/100 g.

Approximate footage
(238, 282, 317) m of Regia Premium Silk Solid 4ply yarn or similar, or 1 ball of Regia Premium Silk Solid 4ply.

Other Materials: Yarn needle, blocking tools and scissors. Optional: 2 stitch markers.
