Rachel Vest is a delicate and elegant vest that is knitted seamlessly from the top down, allowing you to easily adjust the length to your preference. The shoulder shaping is achieved using German Short Rows, worked on both the back and the front pieces.
The sleeve and front edge finishes are incorporated as you knit, so no additional finishing is required once the body is complete. The bottom edge offers two options: you can knit the twisted stitch pattern on both the front and back or limit it to the front panels only.
Two yarn options are suggested: a warmer version that combines merino wool with a strand of mohair for added softness and texture, or a lighter, spring-friendly option blending wool and cotton for a fresh and versatile result.
The light blue sample is knitted with one strand of &Point Natural Wool, a 100% extrafine merino, paired with &Point Pluma, a blend of 60% Mulberry Silk and 40% French Kid Mohair.
The red sample is knitted with Rosários 4 Jardim, a Sport-weight blend of 45% cotton and 55% superwash merino wool.
The techniques used include: increases and decreases, standard bind-off, cable crossings, cable cast-on, German Short Rows, picking up stitches, twisted knit and purl stitches. All techniques are explained in the instructions and supported by video tutorials linked within this pattern.
